Music Wednesday: YouTube Edition

It's been a little while since I've talked about my love of YouTube so today for my MusicWednesday post I thought I would introduce y'all to a few of my favorite YouTube musicians.

First up:
About a year ago, I found Alex through another YouTuber I watch and I fell in love with his cover of "Lighters" then proceeded to watch a bunch of his other videos. This summer he released (what I believe is) his first full length non-cover album. The song above, "We Could Love", is a part of this album as is my all time favorite song by Alex, "Pretty Eyes".

Next:
I've been watching Luke quite some time now, he is one of the first YouTube musicians I got in to. This guy has been on YouTube for awhile as a member of multiple bands (including a Harry Potter Band, Ministry of Magic), but it is his solo music that I like best. His style is electronic pop, and always a lot of fun. If you want to see a really funny song if his check out, "Talk Nerdy". He also has the most adorable girlfriend, Ingrid aka Miss Glamorazzi on YouTube.

And finally:
Landon is adorable (as anyone named Landon should be!) and his music is just my style; singer/songwriter with just a little bit of a country edge in his voice. His cover of "Sparks Fly" is one of my all time favorites, but "Sparks Fly" is also one of my all time favorite T-Swift songs. He posts covers often though his original music is- sadly- much more sparse. I love love love some of the songs he has chosen to cover over that past few months Matt Nathanson's "Wedding Dress", Ed Sheeran's "A Team", and Maroon 5's "Payphone" just to name a few.

All three of these guys work together and are friends which I find totally awesome (although I realize that means I'm not giving you a terribly diverse group of artists here...).

So... do you guys watch YouTube as much as I do? Do you have any favorites??

One Of My Favorite Things To Do

One of my favorite things to do in my spare time is watch YouTube.
I am a huge YouTube nerd.
I've said this before but my ideal job would be to be a professional vlogger.

One of the first people I ever watched on YouTube was Phillip DeFranco, or sxephil. He is a very popular YouTuber who does a Mon-Thurs show on "newsy type stuff and things that matter to [him]".

Not to long ago he started up a new channel, SourceFed, which does a Mon-Thurs show called "20 Minutes or Less". The three hosts- Elliot Morgan, Joe Bereta, and Lee Newton- release 4-5 videos per day each on a different current event-ish topic.
All three of these hosts are hilarious, and I completely love the way they write these 3ish minute videos.

If you've never watched, I highly recommend you check out the video below- it's from one of the days last week that I found particularly funny. Disclaimer- I am not a Star Wars fan but I am familiar enough with it to find this video HILARIOUS.

I also love the blooper videos they release on occasion. Warning before you press the play button on the vid below- Lee likes to yell, and there is a significant amount of bleeping throughout the video, so make sure you're wearing headphones if for some reason you are watching this at work.
But of course you're not reading this at work... right?
None of us read blogs at work.
No sir-ee.
Never. =)

I Watch Too Much YouTube

It's official... I'm obsessed. I don't care so much for the viral videos of people injuring themselves, or cats playing pianos (although the whistling puppy is quite possibly the cutest thing I've ever seen).
On the contrary, I am one of the only people I know that legitimately subscribes to vloggers (video bloggers for my less internet savvy friends). Phillip DeFranco, Toby Turner, Tyler Oakley, Dan Brown, iJustine, and Catrific are just some of the names of vloggers that I watch constantly. I check YouTube for new updates from these people almost as often as I check facebook. I am fascinated by the fact that many of them are making a career out of making (sometimes incredibly simple) videos about their life. I wonder how they got in to it, what made them gain such huge followings, and how the heck the are lucky enough to get such a cool "job".
My attempts to get friends to understand and enjoy these videos with me has never been particularly successful. And yet, there is a massive community of people out there that watch these people talk about random stuff on a regular basis. Here's an example of a typical Toby Turner vlog, he just happens to be my most recent favorite. Enjoy. Bless your face (if you don't get that watch the video).
