Borrow My Heart

won't you borrow my heart
take it love as long as you need
won't you borrow my heart
and don't you ever give it back to me

I absolutely love the TV show Nashville. Country music based drama set in Nashville... That is right up my alley. The music from the show can be hit or miss (in my opinion) but this song from last week's "Two Sides To Every Story" is amazing. Up beat and a bit bluegrass-y "Borrow My Heart" even appealed to my boyfriend who admittedly does not like country music. Unfortunately, for some reason ABC has not yet released this song to iTunes- which makes me very sad.

If you're a fan of the show, be sure to catch the winter season finale tonight!

Shut Up and Dance With Me

Like many of you, I am a huge music fan. A song has the power to change my whole mood. Any time I need a little boost in the middle of my work day I will throw my head phones in, open up spotify, and crank up the tunes.

But...other than T Swift's new album- can we all please acknowledge how amazing Blank Space is?!- I have been in a tiny bit of a rut... listening to the same stuff over and over and over lately.

So last week I clicked on a random playlist on Spotify (Workday Pop) and let it go. A few songs in Walk The Moon's- Shut Up and Dance came on and before I realized it I was bobbing my head, tapping my foot, and having to legitimately stop myself from dancing in my chair (remember... I'm in my office at work).

This is just an all-around feel good song. I can't help but want to dance when I hear the beat. It reminds me a bit of the pop-punk scene I loved when I was a teenager. You know... All Time Low, Boys Like Girls, Cute Is What We Aim For, The Maine... oh man #tbt. I haven't thought about some of those bands in FOREVER.

Top Five Tuesday: Guilty Pleasures

Today's Top Five Tuesday is Guilty Pleasures.
What a perfect topic for us bloggy girls right?!
Most of my guilty pleasures center around my TV or computer, but I tried to mix it up and think of things from all aspects of life.

Soooo... without further ado, my Top 5 Guilty Pleasures.

1. HBO's new TV show "Girls"- A friend told me this weekend that I needed to watch this show. I then proceeded to watch all four episodes that have been aired to date. The main character on this show is insanely awkward and uncomfortable and seriously makes me cringe with some of the decisions she makes... But none the less it is funny and real, and I quite enjoy it.

2. Perez Hilton- I don't read it all the time, but I do love the celebrity gossip on Perez' site. And... sometimes I miss the old mean Perez. But I definitely support his anti-bullying stance and think it's awesome that he changed up his site to get rid of the mean-ness.

3. Fifty Shades of Grey- I recently finished this series, and I am honestly shocked by how much attention a book series like this has gotten in mainstream media. I can say with certainty that I never expected to read a book like this, but I'll admit- once I started I just couldn't put it down. The fact that E.L. James originally wrote it as a Twilight fan fiction cracks me up though, the similarities between Bella/Edward and Ana/Christian are extremely apparent throughout the book.
4. Trips to Target- I've blogged about this before (here), but I have a love/hate relationship with Target. I always go in with one goal and end up spending waaayyy more than I should leaving me feeling just a lil guilty when I get home (but always excited about my random purchases).

5. Laying out by the pool with my kindle in hand- The only reason this is a guilty pleasure is because there are far more productive things I could be doing than laying in the sun, workin on my tan... But it just feels so dang good!

So there you have it, my top five guilty pleasures.

Boob Tube Babble: Hart of Dixie

Does anyone else watch this show?
I have to confess I completely love Hart of Dixie.
And I confess, this love might stem from the fact that I have an incredibly strange desire to move to a small town in the south and fall in love with a beautiful southern man (a la George Tucker)...

The show sort of lost me when it took a lil break (as the CW loves to do) but I recently caught up, and let me tell you the last two episodes were fabulous.
My heart soared with joy and broke in to pieces all in the course of just two episodes.
I may or may not be quite similar to Zoe Hart with my own George Tucker that I'm pining away for... meaning these episodes may have hit a little to close to home but I (like Zoe) have hope and I can't wait to see how the season plays out.

And seriously, watch this clip and tell me that you are not in love with this man.
I've watched the entire series of Friday Night Lights, and I had no idea that Jason Street (aka Scott Porter) could sing like that.
Hot damn.

Sometimes/Always

Linking up today. Let's get to it!

Sometimes: I love rainy weekends at home.
Always: I prefer the sunny ones.
The sky couldn't decide if it wanted to be cloudy of sunny on Friday evening.
Sometimes: I wish I had more artistic/creative talents.
Always: I am reminded that I just wasn't born with those gifts... as demonstrated by my horrendous drawsomething drawings.
Seriously, these are probs two of my better drawings... Can you guess what they are supposed to be?
Sometimes: I think I might be a little bit TOO in to my favorite TV shows.
Always: Shows like One Tree Hill have me on the edge of my seat and yelling at my TV.

Sometimes: Blogging every(week)day seems a little overwhelming.
Always: I remember this is my blog, and its totally okay if I miss a week day or two.

Sometimes: I skip every song on my iPod while "shuffling" because they just aren't right...
Always: I feel so satisfied when the right song comes on... Whatever that may be at the moment.

Sometimes: Working out 4+ days per week feels soooooo daunting.
Always: I feel so much better, and have so much more energy when I do make the effort to get to the gym.
Sometimes: I think I might explode because of how excited I am to see The Hunger Games this Friday!
Always: I know I'll probably see it at least two more times after Friday, so I think I'll survive =)
I thought Jennifer Lawerence's dress for the Premiere was PERFECT.

... to be both nervous and excited about my plans to dye my hair! I've NEVER dyed/highlighted my hair before.

My ombre hair inspiration

Worst Date EVVEERRR!

I am not participating in every day of Neely, Amber, and Casey's Valentine's Day Challenge, but I have been wanting to tell this story for awhile so I might as well do it today with them since the topic is "Love Telling This Bad Date Story- Worst Date Ever." I know this is a long post but make sure you read to the end, because you will not believe how this date ends!

Valentine’s Day Challenge

So lets go back to summer of 2010- I was 21 and living with a bunch of my best friends in a fraternity house (yes you read that right). One night we went out to a random apartment party. At this party I met a guy who I ended up talking with for the majority of the night. He was super nice and easy to talk to, so when he asked for my number and suggested we go out sometime in the next week I agreed.

He seemed interesting enough, and I figured that we would have plenty to talk about but I was still a bit nervous so I wanted to make sure our date included an activity just in case conversation lagged. I found a bowling alley in the area and we planned to go there.

He picked me up, we drove to the bowling alley, and quickly discovered we could not bowl because there was a bowling league that night and lanes didn't open up until much later than night... Bad Sign # 1.
I suggested we drive down the street to Santa Monica's Third Street and get some dessert and walk around. We drive there and begin the awful search for parking. During this drive he tells me about a web show he does which chronicles bad date stories. "But don't worry" he says, "I'm sure our date won't end up on the show." Bad Sign # 2.

My date had no cash, and would not let me pay for the parking so we drove around for at least 40 minutes and failed to find somewhere we could park for free. Conversation LAGGED this whole time despite my best efforts. Bad Sign # 3.

Finally I suggested we just head back to Westwood and get some Diddy Reese or Starbucks (anything to get out of the car!). We get back to Westwood, park and begin to walk to Diddy Reese (an awesome place where you can get choose two cookies and your choice of ice cream to make into a giant cookie sandwhich for only $1.50!) when he informs me that he is not a big dessert fan... Really?! After two hours of fail you are going to complain about cookies and ice cream?! Bad Sign # 4. Fine. We get Starbucks instead and decide to walk around Westwood with our coffee.

We begin walking the same streets that I walk all the time. As we walk I see a potentially homeless man walking directly towards us. Bad Sign # 5? I begin to move over as it seems apparent that this man does not plan to change his direction. My date moves to the other side, but not before the homeless man THREW HIS CUP OF SOUP ON MY DATE. No joke.
We turn the corner as my date picks noodles off of his jacket, and I inform him that we should probably just head back to the car as that must be the cake topper on an evening already full of FAIL. He agrees, and as we walk back to the car he informs me that our date probably will be on that web show (but assures me its not my fault).

Needless to say I did not go out with him again, despite his multiple attempts to convince me otherwise.

In retrospect I should have looked around for that supposed web show though... Oh well.
