Happy Birthday Dr. MLK Jr!

Did you all get today off in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr?
We did.
I wanted to find an awesome MLK Jr quote to share with you today, but I didn't want to take just some random quote for fear I could interpret it in a way that differed from the original meaning. As such, I found myself reading some incredible speeches given by Dr. King throughout his life. I most enjoyed the speech he made when accepting the Nobel Prize for Peace in the midst of a civil rights movement that was no where near peaceful.

He acknowledges that only days before he accepted the award people fighting for their civil rights were killed in multiple places across the country. Yet, he refused to give up on his fellow human beings.

He states, "I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word in reality. This is why right temporarily defeated is stronger than evil triumphant."

His faith in our society was so strong. I admire that, and am thinking of him, all those that were part of the "unknown ground crew" that brought us to where we are today, and everyone today who still embraces the message of faith and nonviolence that Dr. King preached so many years ago.

If you would like to read the entire speech I will link it here.

Happy Birthday Dr. King! Thank you for inspiring millions of people across the world.

P.S. Come back tomorrow for something fun!
